Photo of a book: "Joe Bowler: Artist & Illustrator". The cover is a painting of a young, white ballerina seated on a stool, her frothy tutu draping around her. She leans down to tug at one of her black legwarmers.

Photo of the back cover of Joe Bowler's art book. The painting here (an editorial illustration for McCall's magazine in 1962) shows a young white woman seated cross legged in a wicker chair, holding a bed pillow to her chest. There are sunflowers peeping out behind her right shoulder.

Beneath the painting, a caption:

"JOE BOWLER (1928-2016) was one of the youngest members of the famed Charles E. Cooper Studio, and he quickly rose to prominence as one of America's foremost illustrators. At the height of his success, Bowler was suddenly stricken with polio at the age of thirty. Initially paralyzed from the neck down, he spent seven years in recovery and refused to let it diminish his career. With extraordinary perseverance, he regained his mobility and went on to achieve lasting acclaim as a portrait painter and fine artist. This volume showcases the full breadth of his work-from luminous magazine illustrations to iconic portraits and paintings."
