Expositie ‘Nachtreis’ van Hans Op de Beeck in het #KMSKA is echt heel bijzonder. Bevreemdend en poëtisch. Stillevens in tijd en ruimte, waar je letterlijk doorheen wandelt.

You can see a section of a life-size sculpture of a man on a horse. Due to the lighting, everything is in shades of grey. The man is bare-chested and looking to the right. A little monkey with an open Chinese parasol sits on his left shoulder and looks in the other direction. A rolled-up tarpaulin and a trumpet can be seen behind the saddle. The whole thing looks extremely realistic.
On display is a life-size group of sculptures; due to the lighting and lighting conditions, everything can be seen in shades of grey. A girl lies peacefully asleep on a Chesterfield sofa, her head with plaited plaits on a cushion, her body covered with a light blanket. Her legs are bent. On the floor in front of the sofa lies a small dog, which also appears to be asleep. It looks extremely realistic.
You can see a sculpture of an oversized piece of cake. The lighting keeps everything in shades of grey. There is a candle on the cake and you can also see a strawberry and whipped cream on it. Next to the cake is a small strip of redcurrants. On the other side is a fork with some cake on it. Everything looks extremely realistic, also due to the fact that there is some juice or cream under the cake.
On display is a life-size sculpture of a girl. The lighting keeps everything in shades of grey. The child has angel wings and is sitting on a cushioned stool in a bored pose with a corresponding facial expression. She carelessly holds a magic wand in her hand. The whole thing looks extremely realistic.
In case you visit #antwerp before the 17th of August and you have some spare time: pay the Hans op de Beeck expo „Nocturnal Journey“ at the #kmska a visit - awesome presentation with all the darkness and the contrast of light and shadows. The sculptures are incredibly stunning and life-like.
