It's still janky like a #cyberdeck & it seems to be a bit unstable but it's getting there. That USB cable is an annoyance though, and I really wish that there were I²C capable firmware for the #Keebdeck already. But it's getting there. I'll try to add in the real time clock and ATECC chip tomorrow.

#cyberdeck build. Now all I need to do is build a new interface board for the Raspberry Pi to plug into the screen and other peripherals. It's too bad the #Keebdeck still doesn't have I²C firmware, but I have it on good authority that such will be made available soon & that extra USB port can open.

So now here I am designing the #cyberdeck case. I found a manufacturer who can probably custom cut acrylic sheets as thin as 1.5 mm, which is exactly the same thickness as the #Keebdeck Basic front panel PCB. Now I need standoffs to separate the front and rear panels.
Now I need to make a proper case for this #cyberdeck. The #Keebdeck looks like just what I wanted. Maybe I'll start off with a sandwich case made out of acrylic panels.

So here's the initial attempt at a case for the #cyberdeck. The annoying thing is that the box is too thin to fit the keyboard inside. But at least I can bring it around now. I'll probably wait for the #Keebdeck before designing a better case.

And so it seems that it's finally possible to order a #Keebdeck, and so I got a few... Annoying thing is that shipping from SE to PH is so expensive. Ah well I got a couple so I can make more stuff.

The other half of this project's inspiration is the Beepy, which also uses a Sharp Memory Display and a Pi Zero. That's even more work to build myself though because it entails a custom PCB, and the Blackberry keyboard is kinda fiddly. Why I want the #keebdeck!

The KeebDeck Mini connected over USB to a laptop it's sitting on. The laptop is showing a paragraph from Alice in wonderland to be typed in 30 seconds.
Same setup but now the laptop is showing the results with 43.2 wpm and 100% accuracy.
