Kit Williams' Masquerade hare, subject of a book and treasure hunt in the 80s. Recently sold by Sotheby's auction house.
The Masquerade hare had been expected to sell for between £10,000 and £20,000.
Competitive bidding culminated in it selling for £82,550.
Sotheby's added that it was purchased by a UK-based private collector.
