Red and white text on black background: "We know 2024was the deadliest year ever for people seeking sanctuary in the UK. We know at least 82 people died in the Channel. 14 of them were children. We know at least 51 people died in asylum accommodation. Almost 1 in 3 of them died by suicide. But we don't know exactly how many people died. We don't record their names. We don't know exactly how or why they died. No one's death should be ignored. It's time to know their names."
We know people seeking asylum are dying: but Government won't even record their deaths. We can't save lives without knowing how people are dying & why.
Today, Lords debate a Borders Bill amendment to ensure these deaths can't be swept under the rug.
