Text: Hearing is tested by individual frequency (a.k.a. the pitch) of sounds and Hertz. During testing, pure tones are presented at increasingly louder volumes in each year until they are detected by the student. Red O: right ear results Blue X: left ear results Green line: where the Xs and Os are for hearing within normal limits. In this example, this student can only hear 2000 Hz sounds if they are 25 dB in the right ear and 40 dB in the left. The lower the lines, the louder sounds have to be for the student to hear them, the worst the hearing loss Which sounds are audible for the student and what effect will this have on understanding?
