In “The Red I,” American artist Whitfield Lovell merges portraiture and found object to evoke memory and ancestry, a hallmark of his conceptual tableaux that blend drawing, assemblage, and the poetics of history. Beginning in the late 1990s, he developed these stand-alone scenes that are almost ghostly yet grounded and inspired by vintage photographs of unnamed African Americans whose stories were never recorded. His process reanimates these lives, freeing them from prescribed narratives while allowing presence to emerge from silence. A dark-skinned young woman gazes slighyly to our left, her thoughtful eyes avoiding direct contact with us. Lovell renders her in soft black conté lines against a vivid red paper background, her 19th-century attire detailed with high-necked, long sleeves, and three rows of buttons that trace the bodice’s form. A large rose blooms at her chest; her right arm crosses her waist holding a sprig of leaves and a flower. Her hair is swept into an elegant updo while delicate dangle earrings catch light against her cheek. The drawing, measuring nearly four feet tall, rests within a deep black frame lined in darker red. At its lower left edge, a small circular black vase with neck narrow and mouth flared protrudes from the composition, bridging the world of the viewer and the drawn figure through shadow and reflection. The “Reds” series, to which this piece belongs, explores emotional intensity and remembrance through color and ritual object. The artist combines charcoal drawings of individuals with found objects that extend into the viewer’s space. Many feature exquisite, highly finished figures who appear as if emerging organically from the surface. The found vase acts as both vessel and offering like an echo of mourning, devotion, and endurance. Lovell has described his works as “visual poems” that “summon spirits from the past,” inviting us to contemplate how identity, loss, and love persist across generations, even if names are forgotten.

Tankcsapda: Mi lehetett a szakítás valódi oka? Olyanok ők, mint egy házaspár, csak éppen hárman vannak. Vannak jó időszakaik, és vannak rosszabb periódusaik – magyarázta egy magazinnak alig másfél évvel ezelőtt a zenekar alapítója és énekese, **Lukács Laci.** A **Tankcsapda** most, úgy tűnik, az utóbbi periódusát éli. Olyannyira, hogy az elmérgesedett helyzet 13 év után szakításhoz vezetett. De vajon mi az oka annak, hogy a rockzenészek Sidi, azaz **Sidlovics Gábor** nélkül folytatják tovább? ### Pénz beszél? „Külön utakon. Tizenhárom év után a Tankcsapda és Sidlovics Gábor Sidi útjai külön válnak. Az utóbbi időben egyre nyilvánvalóbbá vált, hogy nem egyformán látjuk a jövőnket, ezért – közös egyetértést követően – Sidi úgy döntött, hogy kiszáll a zenekarból, és a most zajló tavaszi turné végén elköszönünk egymástól” – adta hírül március 6-án a zenekar a közösségi oldalán. A fiúk váratlan és sok kérdést felvető bejelentése szó szerint sokkolta a rockbanda rajongóit, aggodalmukat pedig csak még tovább fokozta a tény, hogy kedvenceik semmilyen részletet nem kívántak elárulni a történtek okairól. Az egyik napilap úgy tudja, Laci, Tomi és Sidi válása korántsem volt olyan békés, mint ahogyan arról a közleményben írtak. Állítólag komoly balhé kerekedett közöttük a színfalak mögött, a megoldatlan botrány pedig teljesen megmérgezte a zenekar életét. Hogy mi volt a konfliktus oka? A banda hű rajongóinak elmélete szerint a Tankcsapda tagjai anyagi kérdésekben feszültek egymásnak, és bár nem ez volt az első ilyen alkalom, úgy tűnik, ez volt az utolsó. Együtt a nagy hármas New Yorkban Fotó Archív ### Kettő egy ellen Sidi ugyanis nem kér többé a Tankcsapdából. Ahogyan Lukács Laci és a zenekar dobosa, egyben ügyeletes üzletembere,**Fejes Tamás** sem a gitárosból. „Mindhárman eléggé erős személyiségek vagyunk, de megvan a kellő érzelmi intelligenciánk ahhoz, hogy tudjuk, mikor kell hátra- vagy előrelépni – mondta még 2023 szeptemberében Sidlovics Gábor. – Nagyon fontos, hogy néha le tudjuk rakni az egót, és csak a zenekar érdekeit nézzük, nem pedig a sajátunkat. Van egy általános szabályunk: ha valamiről dönteni kell, akkor általában szavazunk. Ha már ketten letették a voksukat valamire, akkor a harmadiknak alkalmazkodnia kell ehhez – vázolta fel Sidi a zenekar dinamikáját, majd azt is elárulta, hogy kinek milyen szerep jutott a zenekarban. – Mindhárman a zenéhez értünk a legjobban, de az évek alatt kialakult, hogy azon túl kinek mi az erőssége: én a vizuális és a grafikus témákkal foglalkozom, Laci a dalszövegeket írja, Tomi pedig nagyon jó üzleti stratéga.” Sidi szavait aztán Fejes Tamás, a Kincsvadászokban naponta látható műgyűjtő szakértő is megerősítette. „Mondjuk inkább úgy, hogy a vakok között a félszemű a király. Laci és Sidi tipikus művészemberek, nincs igazán üzleti érzékük, de ezzel nincs is semmi baj. Emiatt ez a szerep valamilyen szinten rám hárul.” ### Szeretlek is, meg nem is A rajongókat derült égből villámcsapásként érte a Tankcsapda feloszlásának híre, a szemfülesebbek azonban kiszúrhatták, hogy Fejes Tamás már az ominózus interjúban, másfél évvel ezelőtt is egyértelmű utalást tett arra, hogy megingott a hármasuk. „Van, amikor szeretjük egymást, és van, amikor utáljuk. Most nagyjából a kettő között vagyunk, kezdünk kijönni egy nagyon durva ’utálom’ időszakból” – nyilatkozta akkoriban az 51 éves üzletember, aki könnyen lehet, hogy előre megérezte a hármasuk végzetét. Így nem véletlen, hogy tőle szokatlan módon nyitott a televíziós szereplés felé. Mindemellett étterem- és ingatlanbizniszbe is kezdett. A rockzenekar alapítója, Lukács Laci ekkor már úgyszintén óvatosan nyilatkozott a felbonthatatlannak tűnő egységükről. „Igyekszünk a lehető legzökkenőmentesebben átvészelni ezeket az időszakokat, és menni tovább. Persze tudjuk, hogy semmi sem tart örökké, de mi megyünk, ameddig csak lehet!” – zárta gondolatait a Tankcsapda énekese, akinek végül tényleg igaza lett, „mentek” amíg lehetett. Tizenhárom évig! Mostanáig is képlékeny, hogy ki veszi át a gitáros helyét.
