This image highlights Virginia Lacy Jones (1912–1984), a pioneering figure in library science education. She was the second Black person to earn a doctorate in library science and served as the dean of the Atlanta University School of Library Science. Jones was instrumental in training generations of Black librarians and worked to expand access to library science education for minorities. The image is shared by the American Association of School Librarians (AASL).
