We also observed that habitat complexity decreases with depth, highlighting crucial ecological gradients and the the importance of protected seamounts like Benham Bank as #HopeSpots for preserving ocean life 🌊🦑🐟 amid increasing environmental challenges.

We describe 🪸coral and benthic communities at depths >50m on Benham Bank in the Philippine Rise, a deep underwater seamount off NE Philippines. We found 30% live hard coral cover, making it one of the richest mesophotic coral ecosystems in the country 🇵🇭
