Marchador Monday with Red Elf, the Half-Blood, Gingerbread Prince, moving forward with EPM. After so many memories of the horse he was, and with three successful rides =----> I had a decision to make yesterday...I planned to ride Elf again. Russ invited me on a trail ride...he was riding Eddie, and McCrea on a very hot Sally. They are not compatible trail riding horses for Elf, especially in his current state of rehab...but a chance to do a group trail ride...I chose success for Elf and rode Desejo! GREAT call. After a bareback loop on Mystic, Elf and I rode in the arena. Gosh he felt relaxed and forward. Mega improvement from months ago. Light and fairly straight on the rail ;) We got some good gait/trot impulsion laps, tho he was pushing to go faster. He listened to light cues and we kept at it. He did make one attempt to canter and went into his braced, head down, crow-hoppping, which I quickly/successfully shut down! Good job for the correction, Elf. Hmmmm, do I take that lightness and confidently keep at it, slowly...or is he still tellling me "can't, grandma" Can't canter under saddle yet...
