Thanks again to the organisers of #MASC2024 and to the RSC MASC group. The MASCot has made it to Open University and we look forward to seeing everyone in 2025 for #MASC2025 organised by the School of Life, Health and Chemical Sciences.

I had a fantastic time at #MASC2024 in York. First conference since arriving back in the U.K.. Great to meet many new people, catch-up with others and see some fab supramolecular and macrocyclic chemistry presented. Huge thanks to the organisers for putting together such a great meeting.

Quote of #MASC2024 "We didn't design it. It just happened."

I really enjoyed #MASC2024, but frustrated to have to leave early - had the general evidence of brain misfires that’s part of my epilepsy & a clear signal rest is needed. Sorry to have missed out on seeing everyone I wanted to see! Quiet space was v appreciated as were those who looked after me :)

The quality of the posters and their presenters as #MASC2024 was fantastic. Communicating your work to an interested non-specialist, and feeling comfortable going off-script, are skills. It's rare that I go to a poster session and everyone I speak to is so confident and in command of their subject.

Autonomous oscillatory movement of sensory protocells in stratified chemical media Design of motile microcompartments is challenging since sizes above a few microns are outside the Brownian regime, with limited ways to mobilize compartments at this length scale. Here, we have developed protamine/dsDNA microcapsules containing antagonistic pairs of catalase and glucose oxidase enzymes capable of sensing chemical substrate gradients by means of bubble-mediated buoyant motility to achieve adaptive oscillatory movement across stratified chemical media. In contrast to existing literature, we present highly controllable, motile compartments without the need for external guidance.

Always exciting to see a paper you handled being presented - Avinash Patel is talking about this Chem paper on motile protocell models within heterogeneous environments at #MASC2024 www.cell.com/chem/fulltex...

Good morning - I'm ready for another day of great science at #MASC2024 here in York. He's a shot of last night's conference dinner venue before hordes of hungry chemists arrived!

And I’m not at #MASC2024 as one of us has to look after the kids in Glasgow and @profdraper.bsky.social gets dibs as (a) I was there last year and (b) most importantly she’s won a prize!

Caring responsibilities as a single parent mean I can't travel to conferences. We are hosting #MASC2024 in York, and after just 1 day, I feel inspired and have already had a cool idea for a new proposal. Academic travel is such a vital thing to lose - we have to help ECR parents.
