Over the last 2 years I've basically done a 100% changeover in my drum gear. And still ended up ahead. The readers digest version:
1. Was using a 5 piece Mapex Saturn III kit
2. Got an amazing deal on a 6 piece Peace DNA maple kit in red sparkle. Sold off enough pieces (cymbals, throne, etc.) that I broke even in what I paid and still had some hardware and the full shellpack left.
3. Traded the (now unused) Mapex Saturn III for a Tama Superstar hyperdrive. Took a bit of a loss in the resale value, but a hyperdrive kit is what I wanted most.
4. Rewrapped the Hyperdrive in a purple satin metallic auto wrap.
5. Found a newer Tama Superstar Hyperdrive in better shape and in a finish I've always wanted.
6. Sold the Peace DNA set, bought the new Superstar Hyperdrive.
7. Sold the Purple Hyperdrive
8. Bought a used Mapex Armory Fusion kit (for an AMAZING deal) with a Mapex MPX snare for smaller stages where the 22x20 superstar kick may be a bit much.
SO, after all is said and done, I went from a Mapex Saturn III kit to the Tama Superstar Hyperdrive I always wanted since they were released, a Mapex Armory Fusion kit, and some Peace boom stands with an extra $200 bucks in my pocket.
Oh, I also sold my Black Panther Blaster snare and bought a Udrum 13x6.75 3mm aluminum snare.
