Photo of a large-leaved herbaceous plant. The paddle-shaped leaves are white with wax on the underside.

Calathea lutea (📷: brunoargovia CCBYNC4) has large, thin leaves with a visible coating of wax on their undersides. It is easily harvested. The wax is similar to carnauba wax but is mixed with a resin that must be removed by solvents before the wax can be used. #Marantaceae #wax #Botany 🌾🧪🌱

In the foreground left, elongated leaves reach up. Some leaves display their red underside while others display the top variegated side. Behind this plant is foliage of all sorts

Back in the balcony garden after a few days of storms and violent winds. The garden was mostly unscathed. This #Stromanthe sanguinea always looks good.
