Good morning everyone, hope all is well and that you all had a great weekend!

In honor of the last day of March, I read to Baby Donavan's Pre-School Class earlier this morning 😄

I read one of DJ's favorite books called "8 Little Planets", which I might add was a class hit 🌞

This #MarchIsReadingMonth I had the opportunity to read to students in Berkley, Royal Oak, and Birmingham Public Schools. Thank you to all of the administrators, teachers, and media specialists who made these visits possible. I'm grateful for my incredibly insightful discussions with the students

Hand-written letter from Jane E. Weisner, stamped "received '79 Sep 28" addressed to AFSCME President Wurf: "I want to thank you for forwarding my request for information on collective bargaining to Dave Williams. Mr. Williams sent me an enormous amount of literature, but the most interesting, from a personal point of view, was the book, Power to the Public Worker. The history of AFSCME is fascinating. I had no idea how long our union has been around or the struggle we have fought to emerge the strong union we are today. And I would like to say, if I might, Mr. Wurf you have done a Great Job, and I hope you continue to do so for may years. I'd also like to add, I saw you on..." [continued on next page].

Second page of hand-written letter continues: "...Firing Line. You made me proud to be a member of AFSCME. So many guests get eaten alive on that show, if anything you appeared the victor. Thank you again for the wealth of information. I promise to use it in my educational pursuits and at the bargaining table. Sincerely, Jane E. Weisner."

But that’s not the only @afscme.bsky.social book you can check out – Power to the Public Worker tells more of the union's early history. AFSCME member Jane Weisner found it fascinating. #MarchIsReadingMonth #Read #LaborUnions #LaborHistory #Libraries search.worldcat.org/en/title/983...

This month, I’m revisiting Labor’s Last Angry Man, a biography of AFSCME President Jerry Wurf (1919-1981). He’s a fascinating figure who had tremendous influence on working people and the labor movement. #MarchIsReadingMonth #Read #Books #LaborHistory #LaborUnions

I had THE BEST TIME hanging out w/ 400 super cool kids at Ralya Elementary 🌈 we did a slide show, story time, & drew all kinds of nonsense. I didn’t even nerve-vomit all over myself! It was a 💯 vomit-free presentation.
