FAA Chief Quit on Jan. 20 After Elon Musk Told Him to Resign Michael Whitaker had only been in the role for a year but the SpaceX chief accused him of “harassment.”

Musk forced the former FAA Chief to resign after the FAA had placed fines on SpaceX. There was no acting FAA director when the crash occurred.
