I (finally) finished Calculus II (my 6th #MathAcademy course) and wrote my usual update post on the experience: frankhecker.com/2026/02/08/m.... Among other things, I have some thoughts for other Math Academy students about "review hell".

Complete an exercise in #Exercism using Scheme! And learned some math from #Mathacademy
Oh! I also transitioned to Doom Emacs. I'm hoping to slowly create a good workflow. Perhaps I'll incorporate GTD and Zettelkasten with Org-org

Today was spenting doing #MathAcademy and reading some pages in #SICP!
There was a crap ton of review stuff I had to do since I missed so many days. I just can't wait for this semester to be done so I can focus on my projects.

Today was my book club event for #SICP, I met some incredible people today and I'm really excited to continue this endeavor.
Slowly working my way up with #MathAcademy again, I have no idea why I burnt out so quickly lol, but I'm picking it up again!

Haven't been doing #MathAcademy lately since I'm been pouring my time in #SICP
But I did get a lot of Homework problems done. I only got 2 more questions, and some easy labs for week 1.
I'm definitely gonna grind some #MathAcademy tomorrow.

I did some #MathAcademy today! Took some time to learn more about Logarithms. I even experimented with Desmos and graphed a logarithmic function. And so, I finally connect the dots between an exponential and logarithmic function and how it comes into play with Big O notation.

Reached 10% for #MathAcademy MFII, super excited to just be moving the needle forward. Other than that, I've been studying away for my exam tomorrow for Computer Architecture. College sure does take a huge chunk of my time.
Day 3 / 365
I didn't get a lot of XP today for #MathAcademy since I was busy with school work. My school work was focused on coding in Assembly using AVR. I was tasked with simply filling an array by utilizing pointers via the Z register and incrementing it. Pretty simple stuff.

Another day of #MathAcademy! Learned about factorials, perfect sqares, logs stuff, radians, permutations, and a lot more. I'm still a little fuzzy on some topics but I'll understand with time.
#Sicp on the other hand is confusing so I'm going to take my time.

I've made some progress with #MathAcademy! Learned about limits, Quadratics, logarithms, and so much more.
Completed lecture 1 of Brian Harvey’s 61A. I think reading through #SICP will be invaluable. Perhaps, I'll create a Discord server for group study.

19k XP #mathacademy - if it was actually 1XP/minute, that's 316 hours. But since I'm slow it's probably a fair bit more.
Overall I think #MathAcademy is a good service, though expensive ($49/month) and overly focused on a target audience of tech-savvy adults with at least some math background. (Also, ignore their "AI-powered" marketing. It's standard predictive analytics, nothing to do with generative AI/LLMs.) 3/3
