Spend this #fathersday by taking some time to practice a little self-care. Men who practice #selfcare are more likely to feel satisfied in all areas of their life. Self-care means doing things that make you feel happy and relaxed. It’s not selfish to take good care of yourself.

Case Study: Adam. I’ve struggled with depression for as long as I can recall. It took me until now, in my late 40’s, to look for any help. I went into my initial assessment expecting to be told I was unfit for work and be given some ‘happy pills’ and sent on my way. However, the person I saw seemed to really understand. They didn’t push anything on me. I was given a few options to think about and asked to come back when I was ready to discuss things further. I continued working throughout my time with PH, and I could book my follow ups and therapy when it suited me. I started to feel much better after about 6 weeks and whilst I’m delighted about that, I only wish I’d sought help sooner!

Many men are affected by the stigma of mental ill health and/or addiction. Our clinicians at NHS Practitioner Health takes these factors into account, and work with our patients to ensure that they receive the most supportive care that works for them. #MensHealthWeek
