A partially-finished 25mm scale miniature of a Canopian mercenary from Battletech, sculpted from green epoxy putty over a brass wire armature.

She's still missing her head (which is on a brass rod in front of her) but I've added some detail since the last time I posted her; notably, I've done a fair bit of work on the head itself (which is one of the hardest things to sculpt in my experience), which now has a recognisable mouth, nose, eyes and one ear (the other will be covered by hair once it's finished and I am not going to do a fine detail piece like that for no reason).

On the body of the miniature I have added some detail to her chestplate, fixed some armour plates to her abdomen and added thicker leather pads to the sides of her trousers/leggings.

Her weapons- namely a holstered pistol, a large assault rifle and a holstered combat/survival knife- are arrayed in front of her.

This is the same partially-complete miniature rotated so that we can see the vent detail I've added to her armoured backplate and the leather pad on the left-hand side of her leggings. Also, she has a tail. I am told this kind of extreme body modification is not uncommon in the Magistracy.

(this is in fact a friend's OC that I am sculpting for them as a gift- some of you might recognise who it is already).

I am rapidly entering the "OH GOD OH F**K I HOPE I DON'T SCREW THIS UP" phase of sculpting this mini, which is a sign that I'm making progress. Started work on the head & she looks perpetually startled cause I haven't put her eyelids on yet...

This is a photograph of a partially-sculpted miniature of a muscular female figure in approximately Warhammer scale (25mm base). The model and most of its accessories are made from "Green Stuff" epoxy putty over a brass wire armature. The model's head is currently still largely unfinished and is on a brass rod, and there are a few accessories (pistol in holster, assault rifle and knife in scabbard) laid out in front of the miniature. The assault rifle is made from styrene, brass rod and copper tube.

The miniature has an armoured bracer and shoulder pad on its left arm and a bare right arm that looks like it should be holding an assault rifle at a high port.

The miniature is wearing an armoured chestplate, armoured boots and armoured crotch guard over a woolen turtleneck and leggings, and has a strap on its right leg that looks like it might be designed to help secure a pistol holster.

This photograph is taken from the rear of the model, showing the armoured backplate on the model's chest armour, the muscular right arm and the model's prehensile tail. You can also kind of see the fingers of the right hand although it is clearly unfinished.

It takes a bunch of work to get over the "is this going anywhere good?" hump on a lot of things, and this has honestly been no exception; but I can start to see what the finish line for this one might look like now.

Photograph of a partially complete custom roughly Warhammer-scale miniature made from "Green Stuff" epoxy putty sitting on top of an ink pot, together with some accessories. The head is very incomplete, the hands are so far roughly mitten-shaped, she's holding a rifle and she looks like she's got the physical build of a linebacker. The other accessories are a large holstered pistol and a utility knife.

I've heard other makers say they only make stuff so they can paint it, and that painting's "the fun bit."

For me it's the other way around; I like making & modelling physical objects; painting often feels like a secondary finishing process.

This is the body shell of a Hot Wheels Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R custom widebody race car, modified for use as a Gaslands miniature with two gun barrels emerging from the right headlight position, stripped of paint and basecoated a flat white.

The photograph is taken from the front right quarter and slightly above; the body shell is sitting on a very small jam jar that is sitting on a messy hobby desk.

This photograph shows a partially-complete custom miniature standing on top of the Hot Wheels car from the previous photo. The miniature is kind of indistinct in this photo but it does have more of a right arm than it did last time I shared it on my TL, the hips have been reshaped slightly and it is holding the shell of a large and rather bulky rifle made from white styrene plastic.

When your reach is greater than your grasp, you have to learn to love the process.

I don't know what iteration of paintjob this is on the #gaslands R32, but it's flatter than it's been so far. Slow progress on the custom model, but still progress.

This photo shows the (modified) body of a Hot Wheels Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R widebody racer to the left, with the partial undercoat for a custom paint job applied, and a Hot Wheels Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R (KPGC110 "Kenmeri") with the paint stripped off it to the right.

This photo shows a partially-complete custom model of a female figure with most of the waist cut away and some (kinda spotty) detail on the legs and upper torso but otherwise lacking detail and with no head or modelwork on the arms. The model is made from epoxy putty over a brass wire armature.

This photo shows the same partially-complete custom model with additional epoxy putty added to cover the kinda-sketchy detail work on the right foot as well as having its torso bulked out appreciably (back to relatively normal proportions) and with some detail added (notably it looks like the figure is wearing a wool jumper or pullover under her armoured chestplate).

The model still has no head or arm definition; a pair of brass wires extend out where the arms should be.

Bit of a frustrating day to be honest. I still haven't figured out how to paint diecast cars consistently which has led to a lot of repaints, and I've been making steady but slow progress on the custom figure.

This photo shows the same scene as the previous photo but with the custom figure turned around to show that she has a tail and beefy calf muscles; she obviously hasn't skipped leg day!

Working on something new. I really enjoyed making the last custom figure but it feels kinda flukey so I'm having another shot to make sure.

Baby's first Gunpla Kit work in progress. Just doing a wee bit at a time to enjoy the build process.

One day this lil space nugget will be a mighty warrior.

He's lovely, really. The others just don't know what he's actually like. It's all lies. All he wants to be is the best shield he can.

Holy hell I can't believe I actually finished modelling this without screwing it up somehow. I got so wired finishing this up that I cleared my desk trying to burn off the energy overrun.

This is my Eldar War-Walker, loosely mocked up (not glued together yet; the model is unpainted). The photograph is taken from the front.

This is nearly ready for paint but not quite- I have fixed on the runes I wanted but I need to clean them up a bit before I'm 100% happy. The runes are cut from a sheet of rolled epoxy putty (Green Stuff) largely because I find it easier to use for some types of fine detail work than sheet styrene )largely because it's softer). I'll give a list of what they all mean when I've finished & painted the model.

Other custom work includes the clear canopy (obvously), loads of reshaping work around blockier portions of the model, magnetised weapon choices and some small but significant modifications to the cockpit tub. Quite pleased with where this is going, will hopefully get onto meaningful paintwork tomorrow.

This is an Eldar Wraithlord model, basecoated black (some of the paint still wet) and disassembled in pieces on my painting table.

Not much to say here really, there are a couple of things I've noticed after basecoating still need a tiny bit of cleaning up, but otherwise I'm pretty happy with where this is going and just need to crack on with the paint now :)

This is an incomplete custom 25mm (roughly Warhammer-scale) figurine made from epoxy putty (Green Stuff). They are depicted walking forwards with a wide stance and holding onto a large staff, scarf billowing behind them as if they are walking into a headwind. They have a backpack on their back, a pouch on their hip and long sleeves rolled up above the elbow.

The custom figure proceeds apace. Today's work was the pouch on their right hip, the right hand, some strapping on their left hip and making a start on their head. I'm terrified I'm going to get the head wrong. So far I'm kinda terrified at how well this has gone. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop.

This is the first full miniature I've attempted from the ground up, though it should be noted that I've been sculpting small bits of Green Stuff here and there for decades; there's a lot of GS work on the Wraithlord, for example (just go back through my timeline to see earlier WIP shots of it) so I'm not exactly a raw newbie. Still, so far this is really super exciting for me :)

This is a driver for a Hot Wheels car, sculpted from epoxy putty (Green Stuff) as part of my Gaslands project. The driver is facing to the left. Behind them on the table are a number of rectangular blocks of GS cut so that the outer surface is smooth and slightly convex.

When I said some updates are REALLY small I meant it. I didn't get the focus on this shot exactly right but you can still sort of see the HANS device I've put onto the driver's neck (and the straps running out to the helmet). I said I'd do it... but I'm still not sure why I followed through with it. To be honest, I'm not sure why I've done most of the work I've done on this project, it all feels very unnecessary and yet I'm still enjoying every absurd bit of it.

The major thing I have yet to figure out is the windows; the stock windows are tinted and it's proving hard to get them back to clear after modifying them to fit the roll cage (again, see my timeline for more on this project). I'd rather have completely clear glass. I've got a few ideas of how I might go about it, but we'll see; this whole thing has been one experiment after another, adding a few more can't hurt.

The blocks behind on the table are kinda speculative; I'm hoping to be able to use one of them as a multi-functional racing display inside the car.

Series of small updates today (some of them VERY small lol), rather than any huge progress on anything in particular. Check the alt text on the images for details.

A partially complete custom miniature in roughly 25mm scale (more or less the same as Warhammer miniatures) made from epoxy putty (Green Stuff). The model is missing its right hand and head and I still have a couple of other details to fill in but is otherwise nearing completion. The model is walking forward with a wide stance, as if against the wind, and has a staff which they will be holding when they are complete. They have a long-sleeved top on with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows, a battered-looking backpack, patched-up trousers, comfortable walking boots and a scarf which is billowing behind them in the wind.

Progress! This is going much better than I thought it would and I could not be happier :)

I do need to get better at photography though!
