The race is on! Paige is 20 miles behind Jessie H. It's LONG run to UNK so they are both going to camp somewhere on the trail. Mille, Travis, and Riley are not far behind either. Tomorrow morning will be an interesting one for sure. #Iditarod54 #Mushersky

Grayson Bruton ran into and out of Ruby (mile 495) a little while ago and 45 miles from Galena. In Ruby are Sadie Lindquist, Sam Paperman, Adam Lindenmuth, and Jody Potts-Joseph again as the red lantern. Jody is taking her 8 here, but I'm not sure about the rest. #mushersky #iditarod54

I expect those 6 to be fairly close together leaving Nulato tonight. Lauro Eklund is also resting in Nulato. Hanna Lyrek is 10 miles out. Josi Shelley, Bailey Vitello, Jessie Royer, Sam Martin, and Rohn Buser are between 20-30 miles out. #mushersky #iditarod54

Mille Porsild is 22 miles behind Paige. Travis Beals is 6 miles behind Mille and Riley Dyche is another 6 miles back. In Nulato (mile 582) are Wade Marrs, Michele Phillips and Matt Hall all finishing 8 hr rests. Ryan Redington, Jeff Deeter, and Pete Kaiser are also there. #mushersky #iditarod54

Okay, let's to a rundown before bedtime. Jessie Holmes (mile 650) is 64 miles from Unalakleet & about 8 miles from a place some us remember called Tripod Flats cabin where he will likely rest for a bit. Paige Drobny is into and out of Kaltag (mile 629) just a few minutes ago. #mushersky #iditarod54

At the back of the pack, four of the final five are into Ruby (mile 495). Jody Potts-Joseph ran straight through without a long rest and is no longer the red lantern. That is Grayson Bruton who is 8 miles from Ruby. #mushersky #iditarod54

Along the Yukon teams are finishing their 8hr mandatory rests and moving along with no real drama except that it seems that Jessie Royer has been in Galena a really long time. Hoping to get an update on that soon. #mushersky #iditarod54

Jessie made his move by making it to Nulato about 30 minutes faster than Paige and then running another 20 or so miles before resting. Paige decided to rest in Nulato instead of chasing Jessie down the trail. She said she felt it was best for her team. #mushersky #iditarod54

I realized I forgot to do an afternoon update, but here's a quick state of the race. Jessie Holmes (mile 632) is into and out of Kaltag (mile 629), starting the long 85 mile run to Unalakleet. He has increased his lead on Paige Drobny who is running at mile 606. #mushersky #iditarod54

🎉🎉 Jody Potts-Joseph is into Ruby! She said her plan was to run straight from Cripple to Ruby, and she did it--a monster run of 10 hours and 56 minutes (with a few short breaks). Really excited that she made the Yukon!
