Today I joined xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) to unveil Vancouver’s first street named in hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓: šxʷməθkʷəy̓əmasəm Street.
Formerly Trutch Street, this renaming is a powerful act of reconciliation and cultural revitalization.

A wet morning couldn’t stop the excitement for the grand opening of Capstan Station in Richmond. Hundreds of excited transit passengers showed up to the ceremony put on by @translink.bsky.social , @cityofrichmondbc.bsky.social and #Musqueam first nations.
Sometimes it is so tricky learning Tsonga and hən̓q̓əmin̓əm. With almost no public resources, nobody to practice with, and so difficult to get in to courses. But I love the languages and keep pushing through with whatever I can find online. 🥰
