The Jesus-myth idea is often ignored by scholars. That has been a terrible tactic, because it has left the view unchecked. Which is why I'm working on a series of works that tackles this view. Carrier's work is one of the first I'm going through.

According to Paul, Jesus wasn't from Nazareth or Bethlehem. Both of those places are scripturally inspired, not historical. Paul only uses words indicating that Jesus was manufactured by God.
Our earliest records do not place Jesus as being born in the ordinary sense...
