An early orienteering map with four colours (no green) A yellow hatching is used to show an area of complex mine workings that was not surveyed. The scale has been corrected to 1 to 16,667 from 1 to 15,000 (there were worse scale errors on an earlier edition back in 1973 according to the NGOC newsletter Legend)

One to fifteen thousand orienteering map, five colours from a time when that was special (1974 JK) Features old railways (only just lifted) and mining spoil heaps. A lot of green but not too bad for runnability.
Speech House North1978. Usually known as New Beechenhurst this is probably the best known bit of Dean. The map was made for the 74 JK by OK Nuts and regularly updated throughout the 70s.This event was by #NGOC but this is #BOK territory.

5 colour one to fifteen thousand orienteering map. Mix of runnabilities with a very large clearfelled area in the east. The area is in three parts. Parkend Walk, south and Cannop Ponds east both still in use with some of the Nags Hill RSPB reserve in the middle - obviously this bit of the forest has not been used for many decades now. A brown screen has been used for very complex areas of pits and knolls. Drawn by Mike Nelson
Parkend 1977. Southern Champs originally then 2 day event 1978 which became the Triple Gloucester.5-7 is now a RSPB reserve.The area is still in use, usually as a Parkend or Cannop Ponds map.

5 colour 1:10,000 drawn orienteering map with a "blue" course (this was before colour codes). Very steep terrain on a dissected plateau. Mainly white forest and lots of yellow due to fields inbetween the wooded bits. Survey A Court and J Parsons, Drawn by J Parsons.
