An Australian Magpie looking for snacks in the lawn amongst a few leaves scattered around.

The good part of driving a quiet EV is turning into your driveway & the local magpie ignores you & continues digging in the lawn for tasty snacks: #photography #phone #nativebird

When I was chasing the storm cloud photos in my previous post, I also found this seriously scruffy kookaburra, sitting on the fence of one of the lookouts. I suspect it was a very young fledgling only just out of the nest, because it sat examining every car that drove past. #photography #nativebird

The kangaroo was not the only thing I photographed at Yeppen Lagoon, this duck was obviously on a mission: #photography #nativebird

Four swamphens in long grass. Red beak and crest, shiny blue chest and black back.

Well, it might not be much consolation, but a few days ago I went looking at a spot that often has birds and saw none. As I reversed out of that spot I looked around and saw 4 in the long grass beside my car! Immediate stop, grab the camera: #photography #nativebird

The local masked lapwings have successfully raised another pair of babies. These would have to be the youngest and fluffiest I've ever seen. #photography #nativebird

My son called to me this morning: What's that? It's hard to look like a stick when sitting on a Hills Hoist #photography #nativebird :

Ibises are native birds who have changed some of their native ways As we hit prime picnic season, Redland City Council is reminding locals and visitors not to feed the “bin chickens”

Ibises love food, and we know they’ll eat almost anything, but their most favourite foods include: insects and crabs and they’ve even worked out how to eat cane toads.

On a trip to @australiazoo.bsky.social a few years ago, a friend and I saw this beautiful Australian glossy ibis. It’s so much smaller than the white ibis, but has that same signature long beak and slow, deliberate walk. #glossyibis #nativebird #australianwildlife #longbeaknobility #thenobleibis

Another photo of a cormorant or darter, taken at Woolwash Lagoon, Rockhampton. It was on the near shore of the lagoon so I didn't even need my long lens! The sunshine is showing clearly the striped feathers near the base of it's wings. #photography #nativebird

I had to sneak up really slowly but had this lovely close encounter with a kestrel.
One of our native eagles the Kestrel soars to give us reminders that a different perspective will empower our goals.
