Just checked & I CANNOT EVEN PRINT TO PDF with this ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ’ฉ "expired trial" version of my perpetually licensed #NitroPDF application. The new "expired trial" application is basically JUST a reader period, can open a PDF & that is about it. This isn't what they said in the email.
I'm pissed ๐Ÿ–• #NitroPDF!

To repeat #NitroPDF is a terrible, vile & #anticonsumer company that screwed over the entire customer base of longtime users who expensive perpetual licenses built this second-rate PDF Editor application to what it is today, mostly on the promise of that perpetual license vs. Adobe's SASS model!

Updating my thread on the vile #anticonsumer #NitroPDF, today my application stopped working in most particulars, as they revoked my perpetual license remotely (presumably thru an "Update" they pushed out, without my knowing or consenting). UNBELIEVABLE!

My app now says EXPIRED TRIAL!

My #NitroPDF saga is at an end & I must unexpectedly buy a new pro PDF Editor, which I use to create my #D&D books. Margins are razor thin in #ttrpg publishing, esp. for indies.

So instead of a #GoFundMe, I'm asking you to please buy my books!

I've little reason to believe #NitroPDF will approve my above post. I doubt they like me calling them on their ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ’ฉ & ridiculous tactics/practices.

At present, it looks like I will be buying the PDF editor from #EaseUS. They offer a one-time purchase with lifetime upgrades, confirmed in email. 13/x

My reply to NitroPDF and its assertion they have the right to unilaterally invalidate my perpetual license for use of their program. Too long for alt text so I will summarise: they are using the alleged threat of security risks, none of which are identified, as justification to invalidate a fully purchased perpetual license and force users to sign up for a costly yearly subscription. The same critical security threat was cited in the prior year to try to force the change to the subscription model, and since that failed to motivate some users, they are now invalidating the perpetual license to force the switch to the subscription. The irony is pointed out that (1) if the concerns were critical why were they not identified, (2) if the concerns were critical why were we allowed to continue to use the v. 12 program for another year, and (3) if Nitro was so concerned about security why did they allow 77 Millions users' info to be stolen by hackers. I allege the security threats are illusory and the real reason for this unconscionable attempt to force users onto a subscription. I end by asking for a refund.

Continuing the saga of my fight with #NitroPDF.

My erased comment is back & my thread approved. They claim present invalidated license is for online signatures, a gratis feature & I neither asked for or used, but CONFIRMED my PROGRAM license will be invalidated after 30 days.

More #NitroPDF info. I checked the Better Business Bureau & they have an "F" Rating, for failing to reply to customer complaints. Not surprising. I'm upset b/c I chose them years ago as an alternative to Adobe as they offered a once-time/ lifetime purchase, & they MARKETED THEMSELVES that way. 11/x

I'ill be calling the SF City Attorney & District Attorney to discuss #NitroPDF, and the CA Attorney General. This is the exact sort of anti-consumer & vile corporate tactics tour consumer protection laws, currently being gutted now, are meant to stop!

If you can please REPOST this so all can see.

Also, my post to the company about what to do if I wanted to move my old versions to my new PC...that post was not only NOT APPROVED by the mods (who allow little to no user interaction) but it appears the post was DELETED from account! As if I never wrote it!? Again WTAF #NitroPDF?! 5/x

#NitroPDF are making it so you can't use the program AND deactivating your license for good measure! They CLAIMED in eh email I would have 30 days, BUT when I logged in tonight I was told my license had ALREADY expired! WTAF?! 4/x

I legally purchased the license & I should be entitled to continue to use the application, even if I don't want to upgrade. But now they are saying they will cut off advanced functions like editing PDFs & conversions. Those are NOT ADVANCED, they're basic! #NitroPDF 3/x

They do not state any actual security risk as they are likely illusory. I know b/c they tried this last year as well. BUT this time they have taken the further step to DEACTIVATE YOUR LICENSE, AND not just try to threaten/scare you into a COSTLY upgrade to a SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE. #NitroPDF 2/x

#NitroPDF is the best pdf converter & HAD a generous limited per day use, but that ended! Its subscription prices for individuals are made for individuals who own a company. I need #PDF>docx only a few times a month. Luckily #RushPDF has a great $1 โ€” 7 day trial. Be great to find an #openSource one.
