No More Victim Blaming

No More Victim Blaming

No More Victim Blaming
Victim blaming is any response that explicitly states or implies that the victim is to blame for the abuse they have experienced.

Whether intentional or unintentional, victim blaming can cause serious harm to survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence, leaving them feeling responsible for their abuser’s actions, therefore increasing feelings of shame and guilt.

Blaming victims for their own abuse is never acceptable, abusers are solely to blame.

No More Gender Neutral Policy

No More Gender Neutral Policy

No More Gender Neutral Policy
The term ‘gender-neutral’ means that something is not associated with either women or men. However, what is often perceived to be gender-neutral, including in areas of statistics, often reflects a failure to recognise gender specificities in practice. A gendered lens and gender responsive budgeting are vital for tackling domestic and sexual violence.

No More Stalking

No More Stalking

No More Stalking
Stalking is a pattern of repeated, unwanted behaviour that causes you to feel distressed or scared. It can be perpetrated by men or women.
Stalking can happen with or without a fear of violence. This means that if you are receiving persistent unwanted contact that is causing you distress but the person has never threatened you, this is still stalking and is not acceptable.
The FOUR warning signs of stalking are behaviour that is:
Fixated

Post image No More Economic Abuse
Economic abuse can include exerting control over income, spending, bank accounts, bills and borrowing. It can also include controlling access to and use of things like transport and technology, which allow us to work and stay connected, as well as property and daily essentials like food and clothing. It can include destroying items and refusing to contribute to household costs.

This type of abuse is a form of coercive and controlling behaviour. It can continue long after a leaving and can have lifelong effects.

No More Coercive Control

No More Coercive Control

No More Coercive Control
“an intentional pattern of behaviour (often used alongside other forms of abuse) which can include threats, excessive regulation, intimidation, humiliation and enforced isolation. It is designed to punish, dominate, exploit, exhaust, create fear, confusion and increase dependency in a woman (or a woman and her children). Over time it can lead to a complete loss of self.”

Coercive control is a type of domestic abuse which can take many different forms and have devastating – even sometimes fatal – consequences.

Since 2020, 30 women and girls have been murdered in NI. (NISRA)

Women in Northern Ireland are twice as likely to be murdered as a result of domestic violence than in the other UK nations. In some years, almost half of Northern Ireland murders are connected to domestic violence.

Threatening to ‘out’ your romantic or sexual orientation, gender identity, gender history, or HIV status without your consent. Pressuring you to keep your identity or relationship secret. Isolating you from family, friends, and the LGBT+ community. Denying that LGBT+ people in intimate relationships can experience domestic abuse. Using your hormones or gender-affirming medication as a method of control. Manipulating you into believing that no help is available to you because you're LGBT+, or that for this reason you deserve the abuse.
