A week or so ago, the little 3G symbol on my phone turned into HD. Iʼm guessing this is 4G? If so, it looks like the switch-over was a success. And none of the dire warnings designed to get us to buy new phones came to pass. #OneNZ

Scaremongering SMSs from One NZ saying that I might not be able to make emergency calls on my phone. This is a likely ploy to drum up sales. For most of the year, they claimed I would not be able to make any calls after the 3G shutdown. One NZ is like the boy who cried wolf.
Sounds like old bollocks to me. Am I to believe that 111 calls do not work on standard cellphone frequencies? #OneNZ #CryWolf
Your phone may lose network functions It still looks like your phone connects to 4G calling and data, but it hasn’t been tested by us (as it wasn’t sold by us). This means we can’t guarantee it to be able to make 111 emergency calls after December and we don’t know how it will work overseas after. If you have any concerns about this, we strongly recommend that you upgrade to an approved phone as soon as possible.
For the first time ever, #OneNZ admits that my phone can handle 4G. After about a year of repeated SMSs and voice recordings saying that I was in danger of losing connection once 3G shuts down. Still scaremongering about 111 calls, which they know and we know is absolute shite.
The SIM card status on my phone, showing that the mobile network type it can handle is 5G_NSA.
I hope #OneNZ switches on 5G in this area before getting rid of 3G. There is evidence a signal exists, but little evidence of its continued availability. And I know my phone is capable.
