Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me . . .
IF ONLY.
But I'm grateful to Yip Harburg for those lyrics, for that little lift.

Crazy making?
Hand drawing about 1000 rocks on this lime kiln and then painting each individually?
Well, yeah, a little.
But a lot more beneficial to the brain than watching the Big Orange Bastard.

A couple of weeks behind, but I'm happy to once again, legitimately, call the White Cliff Lime Plant a work in progress.

Oh, yes sir, Mr. Trump sir, here's that sack of shit you ordered. What's that, sir? Oh, yes, plenty more on the truck. Top quality State of the Union shit, yes sir.

Was invited to a model railroading club's display, and decided to have a go at taking pictures of small things.
Came out far better than I expected for a first attempt!

Sometimes, people just show up while I'm hobbying my time away. They want to know what I'm doing. They don't say so, but I know: It's not enough.

Out of focus now, that senior year (1960-61) when I rebuilt a Ford V8 instead of studying. Did a good job. Meant to put it in a Model A hot rod I was building. Quit. Went off to fail at art school. No regrets.

Mocking up a little more of "the look" of a lime works, 'tho anybody who really knows one must be laughing. The rotary kiln, for instance, needs to be about 3 times this diameter. And who knows where all those conveyors go?

I don't look back to that year when I was 15 with nostalgia. We had problems. And we added the 49th and 50th stars to the flag. Now I wouldn't feel too bad to see a new Mason-Dixon line, but where would we draw it?

Doesn’t seem like I have a lot to show for three hours of track laying, but fitting streamline points together is a very fiddly job. Especially in O scale as any errors are more obvious.

The first component of the sprawling White Cliff Lime Co. is nearing completion. That old gentleman is Mr. Olson. Owns the place. Knows everybody that works here, knows their kids names. Pays just OK, but nobody leaves.

The late afternoon light today lends a sort of beauty to even the back alley, the junk behind D.B.McNooch's little machine shop, that sumac that survives in spite of all we do. Murray Skynard's VW van, the latest thing.
