Imagine you want understand how people respond to Al advice
• Participants guess the age of a person in a photo.
• They see advice from Al with a number and explanation.
• They get to revise their answer.
• The photo comes from a pool of 200 photos.
• They repeat it six times with six different photos.

Questions: In Qualtrics,
• How long would it take to set up?
• What could go wrong?

One-slide Summary
• Researchers increasingly need to present stimuli that are highly customized.
• Instead of manually adding stimuli into Qualtrics one-by-one, you can upload them, using a
"Stimulus Table" to a Qualtrics List.
• The Stimulus Table contains details on all combinations of stimuli you want to use.
• We detail a six-step process.
• We provide examples and a tutorial.

Can you test a ton of stimuli without #Python, #Otree, etc.?

Angshuman Pal, Christina Rader, and Asa B. Palley can!

All you need is:
- a spreadsheet (.csv)
- Qualtrics' Directories/Contact list function

Try it yourself with their materials of two examples at osf.io/vy27c/overvi...

Hi all! We’re excited to announce a new version of our botex Python package! 🎉 botex allows you to use LLMs as bots in oTree experiments. This release comes with several new features, including proper documentation for a change 😉 botex.trr266.de

We used real-time dissenting chats and essay tasks to test dual process theorists’ expectation that reflective thinking and financial performance bonuses improve initially unorthodox decisions. Prior to reflection, most participants chose unorthodox responses. But social reflection yielded at least three times more improvement than solitary reflection (controlling for nearly a dozen confounds). Bonuses were less effective. These results seem to support dual-process theorists’ expectations. Our open-source interactive experiments are implemented online, making Socratic reflection interventions faster, more scalable, and more feasible than in-person protocols.

6. We found Socratic CHATS were better than CASH bonuses at improving faulty/unorthodox decisions!

Improvement was at least 3 times more likely after SOCIAL reflection than SOLITARY reflection!

Props to @chapkovski.bsky.social for #oTree wizardry.

@EikoFried @_lrendell and of course I almost overlooked how incredibly enabling #brms, @mcmc_stan tidyverse, #rstats, @rstudio, #oTree, #Python and @psychopy are. what my students are doing was basically impossible for the average students in my uni years (early 2000's)
