“Cross meets Outer, like a falling star from a galaxy far far away…” As if a falling star, Outer arrives from the deep blue heavens that Cross had only been able longingly gazing up upon out his bedroom window with a telescope, wondering what freedom feels like. He can barely contain his excitement as he asks, “Is the universe out there as awe-inspiringly beautiful as what they says in the books?” “Yes,” Outer replies, an ethereal glow about him catching Cross’s breath. “But it’s also unbearably lonely. Once every thousand years I return to Earth as a falling star, to catch sight of true beauty so I may not lose myself to the darkness of space.” Cross finds himself at a loss for words as Outer studies his face contemplatively. And then, as if an eternity had passed, Outer moves to turn around.

Afterall, the world is big, but universe is bigger…” With that, he’s gone, leaving Cross alone again to wonder whether what he had seen was a fevered dream, until one day, he opened his golden locket to find a new sentence etching inside: “Until we meet again. - Outer”
