44Net links together volunteer-built networks over the Internet and over the air, using mostly off-the-shelf gear and shared know-how, continuing a tradition that started with homemade packet radio stations decades ago. #44net #44yearsof44net #packetradio #amateurradio
Well… today was quite a wet and rainy day. Not a lot of activity here other than blowing the dust off an AX.25 stack I've been working on for a little while. This is written in pure Python and implements both AX.25 and APRS standards, including connected mode. It's shipped as a library to […]
Volunteers have helped manage 44Net since its earliest days, when packet radio linked local networks. The ‘Regional Coordinator’ emerged to help support new operators and manage infrastructure. #44net #amateurradio #packetradio #amprnet #44yearsof44net
Just stumbled on this tonight looking around for information on UUCP. So, my loony idea at the moment, is to see if I can funnel UUCP over AX.25 packet radio, with the idea that I can send email over that.
My principle gripe right now is that most UUCP implementations (I've dealt with SCO UUCP […]

Something for the #hamradio folks. Started with an STM32F446RE Nucleo, built an analog interface board (display unused here) and wrote the code for a very good 1200-baud #packetradio KISS modem. Built back in 2017-18, resurrected, maybe going to do eye diagram on the display #nerdfun
While cleaning up my office, I found some old packet radio equipment that I'm not interested in keeping, and would be willing to pass onto someone who can make good use of it. In particular I have an Argent ADS-GM1 GPS www.argentdata.com/catalog/product_info.php and an […]

A silly protocol idea has been brewing in my mind… CoAP over AX.25.
The thinking is this… use UI frames to encapsulate CoAP messages in the same manner as UDP and use a URI scheme like coap+ax25://DEST[,DIGI1[,DIGI2…]]/[path]
If DEST has the C/H bit clear, DEST is a "multicast" group […]

If you are a serious #prepper this is the thing! ✌️
We used #packetradio on CB radio, 27Mhz, before we had access to fast internet. Great fun! As a HAM Amateur I rather have fone (speach) contact with other people. #connecting

Absolutely stoked to have a finally have built a working ax25 packet radio node with netrom, allowing me to do old school bulletin board systems and computer communications.

Hi !
If somebody searching for an AXIP link with a BPQ node, I'm interested.

Playing with my Ad Hoc BPQ Packet node using 2 UZ7HO soundmodems. Connected to a Node about 15 km from me. We are running on 2 meter in SSB. Connected with 2400 baud QPSK. 5 Watt into a vertical antenna running great.
