So, I just realized one of my grandfathers had been in the U.S. for 16 years before he became a citizen in 1954. He was almost 17 when he arrived.
By then, he was a married homeowner with two kids.
Not sure I ever knew how long it took. Hits a hell of a lot differently these days.

Providing undocumented (working taxpayers) a path to citizenship would be a FAR cheaper, cost-effective, & a non violent response to identify undocumented workers. Simple I-9 IRS audits would reveal who these people are. I've seen many falsified I-9 forms. #PathToCitizenship
