Evaluating the Herts YPAG: The Herts YPAG (Young People’s Research Advisory Group) is a research group made up of young people who help researchers.
In 2025, we conducted an evaluation – to explore what the YPAG has achieved, and how it could be improved. Three YPAG members and two staff members worked together as a team to design, carry out, and share the outcomes of this evaluation.
Our Questions: We wanted to answer three questions: How has being a member of the YPAG impacted YPAG members themselves? How has working with the YPAG impacted research and researchers?
How can the YPAG be improved for the future?
This is a summary of our findings.
The full report is available on our website.

What did we do?
Conducted interviews, focus groups and surveys with YPAG members, researchers, group facilitators, and YPAG members’ parents and carers.
Looked at existing information that had been collected since the YPAG started.
Analysed our data using different methods, such as thematic analysis
(looking for patterns) and content analysis (counting words).
We've co-produced an evaluation of our group! Check it out: uhra.herts.ac.uk/id/eprint/26...
