No. Your head didn't explode. That's actually the opposite of literal, it's figurative.
One of the things that still catches me on Inkscape despite using this version of it for well over a year. To rotate it by 36 degrees, click apply. I know that. But if I am distracted, I go for that little rotating arrow icon. That doesn't rotate. It clears the angle back to 0.
