There is a city in India that still makes perfume the traditional way it was made 400 years ago.

Kannauj, the perfume capital of India. Here, they're able to preserve the fresh scent of earth after a rain.

Exterior of the Molinard Perfume House in Grasse, France. The building features vibrant red walls with large arched windows framed by green plants in window boxes. Two large rustic stone planters sit on either side of the entrance, adding to the charm of the sloped driveway leading up to the historic site.

In the foreground, 4 smelling strips on holders, next to tiny bottles with the number 17, 18, 19, and 20 on the labels. Behind this, a big white box full of tiny unlabelled bottles (some bottles have red or yellow dots on their caps) which are all part of a perfumery materials kit from an online course hosted by the Grasse Institute of Perfumery. In the background, a white marble tray holding 3 books (one on perfumery, one on art, one on wine). All these things rest on a small wooden desk by a window.

Nose training time! My motivation to train is extra boosted now that I learned that we lose more and more scent receptors as we age, and I *am* approaching 50.

These 4 perfumery materials, from my Grasse course kit, were tough ones to identify. But fun work nevertheless! #Perfumery #PerfumeMaking
