Pikas have disappeared from over 25% of their historical range in the American west because of climate change. They are an Alpine, cold-adapted species, when it gets over 80 F, they are unable to work gathering hay for winter. In the past, it seldom got that warm where these little guys live, now we have several days each summer that exceed this. If this trend continues, scientist predict that pikes will disappear from nearly 90% of their range by 2070 in California alone.

#Pikas are native to cold climates, mostly in Asia, North America, and parts of Eastern Europe. Most species live on rocky mountainsides, where there are many crevices in the rocks for them to shelter in.
