Here at EAGER, we’re sitting with what’s unfolding in Venezuela, and we want to be clear about where we stand. No matter how people feel about political leaders, we do not believe military force, regime change, or U.S. intervention should ever be treated as normal or acceptable solutions. History has taught us... again and again...that these actions almost always harm everyday people first. Families. Communities. The most vulnerable. We also know how often words like justice, security, and liberation are used to justify violence in the Global South. Those narratives carry a long and painful history, especially for Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities around the world. Justice does not come from bombs or covert operations. Accountability cannot be built on collective punishment. And human rights cannot be protected by violating sovereignty or international law. As a community rooted in education and liberation, we are calling for: • honesty and transparency, not spectacle • real concern for civilian safety and humanitarian needs • respect for international law and self-determination • a shift away from militarization and toward diplomacy, repair, and accountability We stand with the people of Venezuela. Not with violence carried out in their name. We will continue to speak, learn, and hold space for critical conversations rooted in history, care, and liberation.
