I hope all the library directors who have been saying for years that it’s “smart” to run libraries more like private corporations are paying attention. They are only working towards the privatization and destruction of their own industry.

More stories about Library Workers being threatened, abused and assaulted, this isn’t a new thing but it’s definitely getting worse.
Cuts, short-staffing, poor management, colocation and socio-economic pressures have put library staff at greater risk.

If you are a resident of South Dakota who supports libraries and library workers, this is your chance to act on it. Contact your reps. Attend sessions where this bill is being discussed to protest. Raise hell. Let them know you won’t let them take your libraries away.
