A protest scene in an urban downtown setting shows a person wearing a protective face mask, glasses, and a patterned bandana raising a cardboard sign above their head that reads, 'The system has failed us.' They stand among a small group of people dressed in jackets and hats, suggesting a cool day. Behind them, blurred cars, bare winter trees, and modern buildings form the backdrop, emphasizing the public, street-level nature of the demonstration. The raised sign becomes the focal point, symbolizing frustration, resilience, and a call for change.
I grabbed this image back in February at a protest in Madison. The sign remains even more true today. So far, every system that we had been hoping would stop some of the madness has either failed, or gone un-utilized.
