Turing Award winner Sir Tony Hoare passed away last Thursday at the age of 92. At age 26, he invented Quicksort -- Taught in UG algorithms and still one of the most elegant and widely used algorithms.

Quick sort arranges elements as being greater than or less than a chosen "pivot" element. Repeatedly doing this allows the whole list to be sorted. Complexity: O(nlogn)

Pixel sorting using #quicksort by hue values.
Because ordering colours is good!
Pixel=hue+brightness+saturation
Quicksort is a very fast algorithm; but its sorting mechanism is not stable, meaning the relative order of hue #colours will not be preserved.
