tthe inscription is a bit odd as the hospital, although founded in 1735, was founded by public subscription. Much later in 1903 a chap called George White saved the hospital from debts, but I doubt he'd have worn a wig like this. It's possible this is an image of George II who was king in 1735, but he tends to be portrayed in medals as a Roman emperor.... If you know the answer please let me know!
