Der Consultant und die lieben Zertifizierungen Als Consultant ist man in doch des öfteren auf gewisse Zertifizierungen angewiesen. Sei es nun die aktuelle „Puppet Certified Professional“-Zertifizierungen um als offizieller Puppet-Trainer auftreten zu dürfen oder „ITIL Foundation“-Zertifizierung um die Voraussetzung einer Ausschreibung zu erfüllen. Wer meine Einstellung dazu kennt, die ich mit Aussagen wie „Multiple-Choice? Des sind doch Prüfungen für dressierte Affen!“ oder „Verschwendung meiner Lebenszeit“ gerne recht deutlich mache, wird sich also wundern, dass ich mir im letzten Jahresgespräch eine Zertifizierung herausgehandelt habe. Bei dieser handelt es sich um den „Red Hat Certified Engineer“ (RHCE). Hierbei handelt sich im Gegensatz zu den meisten Zertifizierungen um eine praktische Prüfung beziehungsweise um zwei, da ich auch den vorausgesetzten „Red Hat Certified Systemadministrator“ (RHCSA) noch mit machen musste. Zuletzt hatte ich die beiden noch für meinen vorherigen Arbeitgeber auf Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 erworben und sie waren somit schon eine Weile abgelaufen. Wie läuft also so eine Prüfung ab? Quasi erhält man ein bestehendes System und muss dann ein Pflichtenheft umsetzen, welches dann automatisiert überprüft wird. 70% der maximal 300 Punkte sind dann nötig um zu bestehen.
