This morning I stumbled upon a James Hunt profile I wrote in #F1Racing August ’97. This quote from Jochen Mass, who sadly died yesterday, is ace: “James in a McLaren was like a fencer with a heavy sabre: using a blunt tool but still cutting with real precision.” #RIPJochenMass

I’m very sad to hear that Jochen Mass has passed away, aged 78. An #F1 GP winner (Montjuïc, ’75) & a #LeMans24Hours winner too (’89), he was a fine, versatile driver & a lovely man. Pic: 4th at Monaco, where he was always quick, in ’77, in his trusty McLaren M23. #RIPJochenMass
