This also happened to be the last game of Tony Gwynn's 20-year career with the Padres, and Henderson didn't want to do anything to upstage him. He left the game after coming around to score following his hit.

1986 or 87 I was playing for Dettinger Lumber Minor League at Egremont Elementary School in Pittsfield and I was playing left field. A fly ball came my way and I caught it doing the Rickey catch and coach took me out of the game saying don't ever do that again. It was worth it. #RIPRickey
