Love that long spotters’ view across the platforms 👍
That train reminds me of the occasional oil trains through P8 at Stratford, the evening commuters taking a step back as the tanks clanked and bounced past. #RailBlue #Class37

Excellent day out at the Swanage Railway gala yesterday.
Fantastic to ride in a proper slammer again, Thanks to the @gordon3417.bsky.social team.
15 years this month since the last slammers ran in the South, the end of the Lymington shuttle.

The corporate colours of British Rail looking amazing on the this class 86. The bare cab front end, with no additional jumper cables, and lack of headlight just gives it such a clean and uncluttered appearance.

Front cover of book "The Railway Paintings of Terence Cuneo". Image is an oil painting of a blue express passenger locomotive, "Mallard", streamlined into a wedge shape at the front. It carries a British Railways emblem and number 60022. If you know the front cover of Blur's "Modern Life is Rubbish", it's the same sort

50047 Swiftsure on the middle road at the southern end of York station after major overhaul. The locomotive is in BR Blue. It would work a train back to its WR home. May 1980 https://flic.kr/p/2qwZ1Lf
50047 Swiftsure looks absolutely mint at York, after a major overhaul at Doncaster works in May 1980.

Class 33 33005 leaving Southampton with a train to Bristol on 28th July 1981 under the classic gantry of semaphore signals at the western end of the platforms, heading off into the bright afternoon sun. The locomotive is in BR Rail Blue with yellow ends, and the first vehicle is a Mark 1 Corridor Composite coach in blue/grey livery, with a yellow line above the first class compartments https://flic.kr/p/2mNgaCa
Time to resurrect a theme I used to run on t'other place.

The scene at a wet Hastings station, 29 March 1984, like several journeys for me in the early 80s. The Long and Short of it - 5L (ex 6B) 1031 has just worked the 14.45 down from Charing Cross with me on board, while 6S 1004 gets ready to leave for Cannon Street (23 headcode) at 16.42 https://flic.kr/p/2qtiLLn

A scene from the past - Hastings station in March 1984.
A couple of Thumpers in the platforms, diesels ticking over and fans whirring. 5L 1031 has just arrived from Charing Cross, my transport home, while 6S 1004 is ready to depart to Cannon Street.

At journey's start, Euston. Always walk up to the front for a quick look, found this beast humming ready to go.
I really miss trips on the Caley Sleeper, doubt I will justify the cost of a trip now. Still love the 92s though, amazing machines and evocative names #RailBlue
