A political map of Africa showing a selection of counties highlighted as being North Africa

Currently looking for books by North African authors to get a head start on book group.
Any recommendations for Algeria, Libya and Egypt?
I think I’ve got Morocco and Tunisia covered.
Also are Western Sahara and Sudan part of North Africa?

Pink blossom against a blue sky, sadly not cherry blossom in Japan tho!

I'm so happy that people have taken to the idea of the #ReadTheWorld book group.
Two new members today and great discussions about Japanese books from all genres and eras. So many new books and thoughts to process.

Next month we're dipping into North African literature.

I’ve started my International Booker Prize @thebookerprizes.com reading with Taiwan Travelogue by Yang Shuang-zi (tr. Lin King) and I’m loving it so far.
If the whole list is like this I don’t envy the judges.

It also will tick Taiwan off on my #ReadTheWorld project!

Morning all!

I finished a book yesterday that has left me with a book hangover so I'm not sure what to start.

Top of the pile is Snow Country by Kawabata Yasunari (tr. Seidensticker) in preparation for our next #ReadtheWorld book group but I'm not sure I'm in the mood...

Happy Reading

10. Clear by Carys Davis

If you think we could never ever have enough words to describe the behaviour weather, the sea and the natural world, you’ll enjoy this.

Russ Bain does a beautiful job narrating the audiobook.

I loved it.
