PJM Interconnection Announces Capacity Auction to Meet Energy Needs
PJM Interconnection has commenced a bidding period for its upcoming capacity auction. This auction aims to secure power resources to meet energy needs for the period spanning June 2026 to May 2027. The bidding phase is open now, beginning July 9th, and will conclude on July 15th. Interested parties have a week to submit their bids. The results of this important auction, which helps ensure a reliable power supply for the region, are slated for release on July 22nd, after 4 p.m. Eastern Time. PJM utilizes a system known as the Reliability Pricing Model to procure sufficient generation resources in anticipation of future energy demand.
