It All Boils Down to Principle There are moments when it’s not the situation itself that gets under your skin, but the audacity wrapped around it. The way something is handled. The assumption that you won’t notice. The quiet expectation that you’ll accept less, stay quiet, and move on without question. That’s usually where the real irritation lives. Because most of the time, the issue isn’t complicated.

Most frustrations aren’t about the situation itself. They’re about the audacity that follows when basic principles like honesty, respect, and integrity are ignored.

I once wrote a feature for Utne Reader entitled “Punk Rock Martha Stewart.” It was about being a punk feminist who kept a humble yet fiercely clean apt, shopped, cooked, worked & had dinner ready when my husband came home. He would glare & say he didn’t feel like eating. #RespectIsEverything
