Board introduces smoke‑shop ordinance and declines to pursue an unincorporated TOT increase County counsel introduced a proposed smoke‑shop ordinance that would require smoke‑shop permits, annual renewals and administrative suspension for problematic businesses; the board waived reading and will consider adoption August 12. Separately, after a consultant presented options and revenue projections, the board accepted a TOT analysis and chose not to place an increase on the unincorporated‑area ballot.

The San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors just introduced a new smoke-shop ordinance aimed at curbing complaints, while also deciding against raising the transient occupancy tax for now.
