A then and now collage of yarn spun on my spinning wheel a year ago and recently. The image on the left is from one year ago when I first got a spinning wheel, and I love it, but it has many mistakes and is a work in progress. The more recent image on the right is much more consistent in weight and full of rich colors.
It’s been a magical year since I got my spinning wheel and transitioned from drop spindle to spinning wheel the vast majority of the time… Fun to see how far I’ve come!

My rovings arrived, woohoo! I think I will spin the sari silk with that flax + sheep (merino) blend. I think that would give me a nice contrast between the sheen and matte colours. I also got shetland because it is my favourite to spin with.

Wool has been added to a drum carder to make a batt, starting with a cream base and then layers of different browns with blue and some dark purple striping added on top.
Having a blast learning how to use my new drum carder. 😊 This is my second batt in progress and it was a huge improvement over the first one. The cream base was much more consistent and solid and I’m getting the hang of adding bits of color.
