House approves counseling compact to let licensed counselors practice across state lines The Michigan House passed House Bill 4591 to enter the state into a nationwide counseling compact, supporters said the measure will expand access to counseling and telehealth in rural areas. The bill passed 83–23 and was made effective immediately.

Michigan just took a crucial step to combat the mental health workforce crisis by passing a bill that allows counselors to practice across state lines, paving the way for better access to care in rural areas.
